SAE J403 1038 is a Carbon Steel grade: Nonresulfurized carbon steel SAE 1038 (UNS G10380) to SAE J403 JUN2014, a chemistry-only grade for semifinished products for forging, hot rolled and cold finished bars, wire rods, plates, strip, sheets, welded tubing and seamless tubing. Carbon 0.35-0.42% and manganese 0.60-0.90%.
